~ SOMEONE IS EXCITED ~

Tiffany is so excited about getting married to Brent.
She still blushes every time we ask her how he is.

How is Brent?  we will ask

"Gooood..." she will reply cautiously

What did he say, we will ask, because we like to tease.

"He loves me..." she glows, "he misses me," she continues...

Yesterday she surprised me by offering something, "we had an
argument today.."

Oh? I ask...trying not to appear too curious.  What about?

"who loves the other more."  I laugh involuntarily...
young love...she deserves it...but I still worry about them!

GIRLS IN WHITE DRESSES...

There is nothing better than a wedding
with lots of little girls in white
dresses.

it is like they are a reflection of
the innocence and purity
of love
held in the heart
of the bride
for
the groom

The more the better I say!

BRIDESMAIDS

Another sister, Natalie.

I was surprised when Tiffany spontaneously picked her sister Natalie as a bridesmaid.
They haven't always gotten along.
Both independent - headstrong.

"I know we don't always get along mom, but she's my sister and I love her."

It was a heartmelt moment a mom waits to hear.

Two young adult ladies wanting to make the day special.

Thanks to both of you for growing up!

P.S.  Still not the dress!

THE RING

He surprised her with the ring.

It is two heart shaped birthstones, set in white gold - hers and his.

I believe he is having a wedding band to match. white gold, heart shaped diamond that will nestle in close to these.

The thing we all loved is that it is unique - just like she is. And she loved it.

The size of a ring, the color, the setting - they all say something about a couple.

As her mom, this ring says to me - I love you and I know you love me - we were born to
be together.

Good choice Brent - you didn't strike me as a romantic, but looks good for both of you!

DRESS SHOPPING

One of the most exciting times for any new bride to be is the selecting and choosing of a wedding dress.

This daughter has simple tastes thankfully so is very easy to please.  I have a very small budget for a wedding, and she doesn't know how much it is...but less than the cost of most reasonably priced dresses!

She tried on several styles and types of wedding dresses, but felt really not like herself in any of them.

This is the one she looked the best in, but still didn't feel like it was her!

Being the frugal mother I am, I had bought a dress without her knowledge while on a rendezvous with my husband (we live in different provinces currently, but AIRMILES affords us a few occasions together.)

The dress was less than a good pair of shoes, but she loved it more than any of the traditional wedding dresses she tried.
Sorry readers but you will have to wait for the big day to see it.

THE ENGAGEMENT!

I knew two weeks before she did that February 20,  2015 would change her life forever.
Her boyfriend called me to ask if he could marry her.  I remember the shock of him asking me, but of course her had never met her dad or stepfather.  I started shaking and cried.  My beautiful, sensitive, shy daughter of choice, was being chosen to be a wife.  A dream she never believed could be attainable for her.

My daughter became my daughter at the age of ten, through some of the circumstance in life that happen to children in our country.

The first Christmas she spent with me, was a tear jerker.  The quiet but mischievous little girl was sitting in a chair contentedly by the living room window looking out at the magical dusting of snow.

I asked her what she was thinking about, in her own innocent way she brought soul tears to my eyes.
"I always wanted a family that put Christmas lights in the window.  Now I have everything I ever wanted."  Such simplicity and purity of a child who had endured horrific abuse and abandonment.

Twelve years later she has more than she wants with a man she didn't know existed.  Someone who accepts her, her story and loves her as is.  For Christmas he gave her a locket, engraved with "sweet angel' his special name for her on the back.

The challenge will be making a wedding she will remember without the stress of our harsh financial reality imposing its throttlehold on festivities...

I started with a simple gather of friends for a surprise engagement party in my small prairie townhouse rental.  About twenty of us gathered for less than twenty=two dollars food cost, as I made homemade chicken, cashew and mango curry, with rice, Caesar salad and angel food cake with strawberries.

Lots of candlelight, laughter, congratulatory cards, and friendly advice would rival any fancy sit down restaurant celebration.

I can be very frugal but this will be a wedding she will love...
